Cowboy action shooting is designed with Safety as the most important aspect since we do use live ammunition fired at steel targets.  Second to safety is that of having fun with a great bunch of people.  You don’t have to be expert in the field of shooting to enjoy the sport.  Targets are big and up close designed to be easy to engage with instant feed back from the clang of a hit.  This sport is designed to have fun without having to be an expert shot.  While some become quite competitive, most are here just because we like to shoot.

It is the Spirit of the Game.  Dress does require a cowboy hat, jeans and boots as a minimum although many go much further with full cowboy style dress, fancy holsters, hats and colorful outfits.  Firearms require two single action revolvers, a lever action rifle in a pistol caliber and a double barrel shotgun or 97 pump shotgun.  More details about type of dress and firearms can be found at http://www.sassnet.com/Downloads/SASSHandbook-v18.2-2012Highlighted.pdf.

Don’t have everything you need to join in?  Come out and visit anyway.  Visitors are always welcome and we will make accommodations to have you join in until you get things going.  We’re also planning a special day for beginners about once a quarter at the Sure Shot Range.  Visit this website to see times for these events.

See just who we are at home on the ranges.
